Goblins!

Goblins! by Brian Froud & Ari Berk

"A Survival Guide And Fiasco In Four Parts"

goblins_ari_cover

Using a camera illegally borrowed from the basement of the Cottington Archive, Brian Froud did something remarkable. He slightly altered the valuable artefact for the purposes of photographing dairymaids in a dimly lit barn. When no dairymaids were available he took a photo regardless and inadvertently captured a blurry and obscure image. With his second photo he discovered that this indecipherable image was in reality a goblin.

Here enters Ari Berk and the Codex Goblinensis, an ancient goblin text part historical document, part phone book, part fish sandwich. With this codex and the goblin Gargle, whom these two noble and inquisitive fools have trapped in the downstairs toilet, the study and analysis of these irksome and troublemaking creatures and their disgusting and chaotic kingdom has now been made possible. However there will be consequences for this terrible knowledge.

Goblins! A nonsensical and inconsequential study into the Goblin World, containing photographs taken by Brian Froud, sketches drawn in a frenzied haste, and notes put together by Ari Berk from the Goblin Codex itself. Beware, letting these pesky little creatures into your home will only bring you trouble. A quirky and dangerous book that will either have you laughing at these creatures eccentric antics or curled up in fear at their terrorising ways.

Good Faeries/Bad Faeries

Good Faeries/Bad Faeries by Brian Froud

Seeing The Good In The Bad/Seeing The Bad In The Good!

51Z-hkdszuL

Good faeries bring us inspiration, they are bright and beautiful and helpful by nature. They influence our lives in numerous positive ways bestowing gifts on those brave enough to believe. Seeing into our hearts, they are always there to protect and heal.

Bad faeries are bringers of misfortune, they are dark and mysterious and mischievous by nature. They often bring bad luck into our lives, bestowing curses on those foolish enough to cross their paths. Preying on our vulnerabilities, they are to blame for sickness and madness.

Good Faeries/Bad Faeries all have more in common then you might believe. A pixie blessing may have unintended consequences and a bogle curse may bring unexpected gifts. A beautiful and insightful look into the light and dark side of these elusive and magical beings that are as complex and individual as you or I.

Brian Froud's World Of Faerie

Brian Froud's World Of Faerie

"The Book Of Mysteries And Love"

bfworldoffaerie_cover

Faeries are more than just pretty little girls with butterfly wings, flowers in their hair and who live at the bottom of the garden. Although they can be just this, they are more complex then this image implies. Faeries are beings of brightness ready to guide you on your way; however you must be wary for they are also beings of shadow who would easily lead you astray. These are the dangers that come with venturing into a world both light and dark, where friendships teach wisdom and danger brings lessons.

Brian Froud's World Of Faerie is a journey into a world of beauty, inspiration and possibility, a place only few have visited but open to all if your mind and heart are receptive. A book that reminds us to believe in the impossible as well as in ourselves and shows how all life is a mystery and that acceptance and love abound. Taking you behind the scenes into a wondrous realm seen through the portal of magical creation, otherwise known as Brian Froud's studio, this enchanting book also includes the poster Instructions, a story by Neil Gaiman.

A selection of faeries both favourable and frightening have been drawn together, each to impart their own story and wisdom to those brave enough to search their depths for deeper meaning. Strange Stains And Mysterious Smells

Strange Stains And Mysterious Smells
by Brian Froud & Terry Jones

"Quentin Cottington's Journal Of Faery Research"

Brian_Froud_00_Cover_cyb

During his time at the Institute for the Criminally Insane, Quentin Cottington devoted his life to the study of stains both great and small, and their associated smells both foul and sweet. His so called research led him to believe that these stains were more than just something to be scrubbed, washed out and removed, these were living, breathing, stinking beings.

Strange Stains And Mysterious Smells uncovers a world never before imagined, a world of stains come to life and smells having personalities. With the fame of his twin sister Angelica, it seems strange that we have not before heard of Quentin Cottington, especially with the content of his research. A uniquely stench filled book that's rich with stains, personality and beings of a disgusting nature.

Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Album

Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Album by Brian Froud

A Hidden Past... A Secret Revealed Squashed!

cottington_album_cover

On her sixteenth birthday Angelica Cottington discovers an album that had once belonged to her sister Euphemia. It had been twelve years since her sister had passed, a sister she bearly remembered but for a few kindnesses. However the entries with this album reveal to Angelica the character of a girl lead astray by the fairies, portraying Euphemia as she has never been revealed before.

Lady Clottington's Pressed Fairy Album continues Angelica's story, and fairy pressing, through the revealing entries of a lost album. In this we learn not only of Euphemia's life and love of capturing fairies in photos, we learn of Angelica's reactions to her sisters exploits. But the most shocking truth of all is still to come, if only Angelica could refrain from squashing fairies for a moment or too. Another beautifully constructed and elegantly pictured book in the cottington series.

Betty Bib's Fairy Handbook

Betty Bib's Fairy Handbook
by Betty Bib

'A Field Guide To Fairies And Their Habbits'

1916222

Fairies come in all shapes and sizes and their moods are as varied as yours and mine. Though fond of nature and sweets and laughter there are also fairies that live under your very nose. Either causing mischief or helping out round the home as they so desire, for the most part fairies go about unseen, though occasionally you may feel there presence. When socks go missing, cakes are baked, surfaces are found clean or else powdered footprints are discovered in miniature, you can be sure that fairies are near.

Betty Bib's Fairy Handbook is a detailed guide to all things fairy. As an ambassador for PUFF (Promoting Understanding of Fairy Folk) the author has delivered a comprehensive, sensitive and enjoyable guide to the fairy world detailing the lives, looks and sleeping habits of fairies. Not to mention a greater understanding of these elusive folk and how we might better attract fairies into our everyday lives. A beautifully whimsical guide filled with illustrations and photos to enjoy and ponder.

Books of Faerie #1.2

BOOKS OF FAERIE:
The Hounds Of Ulster by Maggie Stiefvater

Always Wanting More!

It used to be enough for him, they used to be enough. Together they were punk Irish gods. Together their music was amazing. It was the one thing that kept them close, but now it seemed it was the one thing pulling them apart, that, and the girl. But it was no ordinary girl coming between them, she was one of them. But with the promise of something more then what he has, more then he could achieve on his own, a sacrifice must be made in return.

The Hounds Of Ulster tells the tale of music, friendship and the girl that came between them. But it is also the story of heartbreak and loss, for it seems that all those who achieve greatness always pass before their time. However it is those left behind who suffer all the more for their loss. A short but poignant prequel story to Balled about a friend, gone but not forgotten.

Swift #1

Swift
by R J Anderson

A Piskey Like No Other!

There were only a couple of times a year when the piskeys ventures out of the Delve and into the world above, only a couple of times of year when it was made safe for piskeys to leave their underground home. With all the spells and wards in place no one expected danger to find them, but when Ivy's mother disappears there can be only one explanation, the spriggans have caught her.

Five years later and the impossible happens, the spriggans have returned. But as only Ivy alone has seen the creature no one believes her, that is until piskeys start disappearing from the Delve and the creature is caught. But what this spriggan has to say will have Ivy question all that she knows and lead her to betray her kind in search of the truth.

With nothing left to lose Ivy takes the word of a stranger, worse still, the word of a spriggan, over her own piskeys as one choice leads into another and eventually she finds that the truth is not as simple as she believed. With no one to trust and danger closing in around her and those she cares for, time is running out for Ivy and her fellow piskeys.

Swift introduces a new series of magical beings troubled by the past, trapped by their environment and unable to move on from their current situation. Alongside this clan of piskeys and knockers are some familiar faeries from the previous Faery Rebels series, and with this new tale comes some new and exciting adventures. The Fairy Ring

The Fairy Ring by Mary Losure

"Elsie and Frances Fool The World"

It all began with Frances, a young girl who, being new to England, one day discovered fairies at the bottom of the garden. Unfortunately it seemed Frances was the only one to see these fairies and so without proof no one believed her, that is apart from her cousin Elsie of course. But that didn't stop the teasing that followed.

Elsie, being of kind heart and somewhat mischief nature, decided to put a stop to the teasing of her cousin Frances by providing proof of the existence of fairies. Something that was easier said then done, however with a strong will, an artistic flair and a borrowed camera she had managed to do just that.

The Fairy Ring is a true story told of how two girls, innocently enough, fooled the world and those with the passion enough to believe. As spiritualism was becoming increasingly popular at the time, fairies and nature spirits were a popular talking point, and with so little known about the subject proof of the existence of such beings were highly sought after. But little did Frances or Elsie realise just how seriously their proof would be taken.
